Some say the war is all a hum,
To make our enemy look glum,
And give some folks at least,--a plumb,
Another, for I heard it spoke--
Swears, and he meant it as a joke,
That all our threats will end in smoke.
But others who can look much higher,
Know that the proverb's not a liar.
Which says,--where smoke is must be fire.
